Welcome to SkiVite.com and the first installment of our blog! This site was created out of our passion for snow sports, the mountain life style and the active life style travel community. I hope you find it fun informative and useful — if you do let us know and if you don't share your ideas on how we can make it better!
I hope to use this blog to share my ideas, passions and general ramblings! I have never considered myself much of a writer so please accept my apologies up-front!
Some background: I have been actively involved in the ski industry for about 15 years I was fortunate to make a living in the industry and have worked on the resort side for the small independent resort as well as a corporate giant!
About 18 months ago I ventured away from the security of working for a company and started Synergy Sales Solutions. Truly one of the most exciting, scary and humbling things I have ever done and with absolutely no regrets...so far!
The concept: SkiVite.com has been in the planning stages for quite some time. After being contracted to help start-up a web based travel site, Travelscream I was completely intrigued by web 2.0 technologies and saw a number of great opportunities in this technology to help take the concept to the next level.
About this same time my long-time friend and now business partner Jon Walters also made the leap from security to work with me on Synergy and help get SkiVite.com off the ground!
My passions, in my personal opinion, one's passion truly helps define oneself in a number of ways and hopefully are constantly evolving. For me passion is what fuels my spirit and brings me pure happiness. Those passions that I feel are closest to me are:
Our objective: To be an interactive community resource for all things ski. We hope to make it fun, inviting, easy to use and above all beneficial for the user...this means we need and want your input, feedback and experiences — both good and bad with all things ski.
To help us with this we hope that you, the user, will become an active resource both asking and answering questions abut all things, snow sport and mountain lifestyle. In my next posting I'll start a discussion on "Planning a Ski/Snowboard Trip" and hopefully begin some solid discussion and feedback on what you have found to work well!
So jump in take a look and play around! Above all, whether you use our site or another, start planning your next trip to the mountains and pray for a great snow season this winter!!
Take care thank you for using SkiVite!
