"All work and no play..." you know how the old saying goes. At SkiVite.com, we hold a true passion for our work, and for our play. I live and work between the Vail Valley, an area of the Colorado Rocky Mountains and Santa Fe, NM...both areas lending themselves to an outdoor active lifestyle - winter and summer. When we're not working on the site, you can find us enjoying nature's playground.
My passions...my wife Becky, dog Aspen & family, tele skiing in the winter and riding my bikes in the summer, pushing the limits both physically and mentally and the challenge of running our own company.
SkiVite.com is an off shoot of these passions, and our other company is Synergy Sales Solutions. The Team Synergy concept got its start three years ago when I was diagnosed with Graves Disease. During the subsequent months I lost much of my muscle mass and pretty much hit rock bottom in terms of fitness. At that time, a good friend stepped in and challenged me to gather a team for the 24 Hours of Moab mountain bike race. From there our "team" has gone on to compete in a number of other team 24-Hour races, solo 18 & 12-Hour races and a Century or two along the way.
In a number of ways Team Synergy has, quite literally, helped me turn my life and health around. What lies ahead? It all boils down to providing a foundation of support allowing people to foster their passions with a network of like-minded crazies!
For me telemarking and snowboarding are just another means to get outside to enjoy the mountains, to exercise and pursue adventure. I decided a long time ago I'd rather create a particular lifestyle and then find a way to build a career around it. After a few years the idea seemed to work pretty well and I've been enjoying life at altitude ever since.
I love a good adventure, whether it's cranking up and down hills with Daren on our mountain bikes, paddling rivers or teaching kids to ski Creating SkiVite with Daren and our amazing dev team, Joe and Nate, has been yet another epic adventure. And the best part is that it's one that will help other passionate skiers and riders with their own mountain adventures!
I don't know what heaven is like, but if it means pouncing off the tops of fluffy snow-covered trees on a mountain then I can consider myself a devout snowboarder.
Getting to work on SkiVite has been a real treat because I have planned many ski trips before, and it's no easy feat. I think this is the tool that's going to change the old ways of trip planning and allow people to connect more easily before, during and after the ski trip. Daren, Jon and I have a great vision for making SkiVite a powerful tool for skiers and boarders and we're excited to see it come to life.
Aside from my snowboarding obsession, I run and operate my web business, Above the Fold and run a recreational ultimate frisbee pick-up group called Boston Ultimate Frisbee. Outside of the organizational duties, I spend a lot of time with friends and family doing anything from playing Rock Band, enjoying fine wines and swing dancing.
